Tom proposed the following answer:
When the alert said 100% complete did the machine show a different
desktop from the one you normally get with 7.10?  If so then that was
right.  On the top grey bar it has a firefox icon that should be able to
get into here.  Also it should have an icon in the top right-hand corner
that says "install"
