Re: [Question #77978]: "sudo app install" fails to take password while giving
Question #77978 on gnome-terminal in ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+question/77978
actionparsnip proposed the following answer:
if you run:
sudo apt-get install unrar rar
You can now handle rar files just fine
WinRAR is for windows.
When you type your password, nothing s shown. This is a security feature
so people cannot see the length of your password when using the
terminal. This is kinda pointless though, as when gksudo or kdesudo are
used, the length is visible
Oh well.
