Please open
gstreamer-properties  
##in system preferences

Audio - ALSA
Video - output X Window System (no Xv)

Check if you (your username) is in the group audio+video
groups
e.g. output
username adm dialout cdrom floppy audio dip video plugdev lpadmin scanner admin

Make sure your're the owner of your /home/username
ls -al
