Re: [Question #78122]: Ext3 or Ext4 and Partitions issue
Question #78122 on Ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/78122
Status: Open => Answered
Dave Lentz proposed the following answer:
Do not separate the systemfile ("root") partition and home partition
unless you are going to do a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.04. If this is
true, then you can also use the installer to format your partitions to
ext4.
I would not recommend changing ext3 to ext4 unless you have all of your
data backed up. It is possible, but make sure you follow the
instructions carefully: http://maketecheasier.com/how-to-upgrade-from-
ext3-to-ext4-without-formatting-the-hard-disk/2009/04/21
