Roland is still having a problem:
Benny,

It is simply a small desktop pc with a 3 meter vga cable and a 15 inch
tft monitor. I am not sure what to do with the link you provided, I only
see a movie loading but not starting playback.

I don't understand. Your xorg.conf has only the regular 4:3 aspect ratio
resolutions. My standard ubuntu xorg.conf has no modelines, resolutions
etc whatsoever, but configures itself perfectly to the actual tft
screen. I was wondering if, and how, I should add Virtual Xdim Ydim to
the Display Subsection. I tried, but got into lowres failsafe modes.
My current setup includes:
- Intel 865 chipset
- 'intel' driver in xorg
- screen resolution 1366x768 (formerly 1024x768)
- tv card output resolution 720x568 (if I remember correctly) including black bars
- application tvtime which scales the tv picture to fullscreen (using xorg module glx)
I am still not sure what is the best concept here: tweak tvtime, replace
tvtime, or tweak xorg
