I think this thread shows the advantages of Openness :) I just tried a
search for "mp3 cutting" in synaptic and go nothing but for "editing
mp3" audacity was top of the list :))
I never thought of stretching magnetic tape for increasing the storage
capacity. Good move there! I mostly found splicing special effects
into a tape or chopping out messy parts of a recording were quite useful
for backstage work. I tried stretching tape for making odd sound effects
but i didn't get anything useful from that - i'm not a musician so my
results were appalling and not in a good way ;)
