Arnaudus proposed the following answer:
Hi,
Sometimes, you have to download the drivers. Have you tried to plug your
computer on a wired network and activate the wireless? If Ubuntu knows
the corresponding driver, you'll be able to download it.
If this does not work, it seems that some people managed to make it work
through ndiswrapper (a software that lets you use Windows drivers). See
here for instance: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=484359
The manufacturer seems to propose a link to download a driver there:
http://www.drivers.mrjuan.com/driver-9018-wpc54gx.html . Hy have no idea
on how to install the driver after downloading, perhaps some
instructions are included ("download from the web" is not at all the
common way to install programs with Ubuntu).
Overall, it seems that the chipset of the wireless card is not really
"Linux-friendly". You may experience some difficulties making it work
properly.
