Re: [Question #78373]: No alerts and sound effects

Question #78373 on Ubuntu changed:

willy6635 proposed the following answer:
when you go to the sound preferences window, sounds tab, in the Alerts
and Sound effects box you should see a grey arrow on the far right.
Clicking each of these arrows will play the associated sound file for
each event. They are set to "default" initially. Some events have no
default sound assigned, but most do. If no sound is played, click on the
sound file column for that event which will bring up a box containing
"Default", "Disable" and "Custom". Select "Custom and locate the sound
file you want played for that event. The "select sound file" box that
opens should show several folders and a bunch of KDE files. The standard
Ubuntu sounds are in the Ubuntu folder. Standard Windows sounds are in
the "Purple" folder. If the box is empty, then you need to download or
create the sound files you want and put them into usr/share/sounds or
search your computer for files with the .ogg extension and then go to
their location in the "select sound file" box and set the address for
them that way.

Hope this helps
