You used the lines specific to jaunty right? Hmm, sorry about that.
Please can you open a terminal console and try opening the movie players
from there and then give us the feedback the terminal console displays?
Go up to the top-taskbar and click on
Applications - Accessories - Terminal
and into the terminal/command window/console type in
totem
and then if it does stay open try dragging a movie onto totem's open
console. Some of the movie players don't like having movies dropped on
them so they ignore that. Mplayer is huffy like that usually but the
output from totem should be helpful, hopefully.
