Hi,
There should be an option in NetworkManager to automatically connect to
your wireless router during startup.
Here is what NetworkManager looks like:

It should be in the top right corner of your Ubuntu desktop, in the
Ubuntu panel.
As your wireless issue seems to be solved now, can you maybe set this
thread to status 'solved"?
