gadolinio proposed the following answer:
You said you were given some help on how to use some terminal commands, but the computer said you had no permission. Well, see if you find in the main menu a program called "Root's terminal" or something like that, and try those commands, THIS ASSUMING THEY ARE NOT HARMFUL; I DON'T KNOW WHICH COMMANDS THOSE ARE, NOR HOW TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM FROM THE TERMINAL. I'm just telling you how you can go on from that point where you were stuck!!!
If you can't find "root's terminal", open the same one you know, and type "sudo" and a space before the command you tried before ("sudo commandskflsañldkjasñldkjfasljkf"). You'll be asked for your password. Type it, even if you don't see it being written (i don't know why it doesn't appear while you type, but this is always the case). You just type your password and press enter. This is the same as using root user's terminal, only that if you can open Root's terminal you won't need to type sudo because you'll be already in that "mode", let's say.
Hope you find this useful. Reply here if you don't.
