tom randolph confirmed that the question is solved:
peter thanks, that  what i was thinking .i'm still new to linux  but i'm
still learning my waay arround. i can fix my own systs. at hand but
setting up others  new users and not  knowing what they did ? as with
the case with the one who upgrade the dist. i installed and fried the
proccesor. so now  i.m a leary. again thank you, and LINUX for openning
my eyes and spreading the word.         thanks again   tom
