Re: [Question #46469]: Ubuntu is Linux?

Question #46469 on Ubuntu changed:

    Status: Open => Answered

Thomas Kluyver proposed the following answer:
Sadly, each IM network is basically closed--so MSN have one network, Skype
have another. There are some efforts to make open networks (Google Talk is
actually open, it uses the XMPP/Jabber specification), but they're largely
too little, too late: most people are already in closed networks.

I don't know why the webcam's not working in Kopete. You could possibly try
alternative MSN clients (e.g. aMSN) but I have no idea which, if any,
support webcams.

Skype can call phone numbers, but you'll need to buy credit first.

ipconfig can't show you your public IP address, because your computer
doesn't "know" it. The router has your public IP address.

There's bound to be a way to find out how many bits your computer is, but
I'm afraid I don't know what it is.
