Ok, i have posted a question about how to do this.  Hopefully one day we
will start doing something and find that it's as easy as it normally is
for people.  so far not one thing has gone as smoothly as normal except
perhaps deleting partitions, that went very smoothly.

ntfsfix -h

to see if we can work out how to use this
