Redhat covers rpm based systems like Madriva, Fedora as wll as many
other systems.

3d Studio Max:

Gets a garbage rating for the 2009 version but works great with 2.x so make sure you run that version, otherwise you will not be able to ru n it without virtualbox which will need a virtual install of windows anyway

Maya Unlimited:

Will not install nor run

Photoshop

3.0 doesnt run well but the rest seem to run well.

You will find drivers for most of your harware is part of a standard
install. for nvidia you will need to run:

sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx-180

and then reboot. Nvidia have fantastic support for Linux / BSD on all
architectures. You may want to test sound under the Live CD environment,
if it works i the live cd, it will work out of the box once installed,
if not you may have to jump through a few hoops to get it working.

Please remember to MD5 check any ISO you download and burn as slowly as
you are allowed to maximise success.
