Re: [Question #78667]: Black screen after splash before login hardy 8.04
Question #78667 on Ubuntu changed:

Status: Answered => Open
Diven is still having a problem:
My system does not respond Alt+Ctrl+Backspace when the screen has gone
black. I read that Alt+Ctrl+Backspace was disabled in Ubuntu, but I
tested it before hand and it worked, so it must have been disabled in a
later version than Hardy. Based off my experience so far, I believe the
system is completely unresponsive when the screen goes black for me.
I'm not sure what you mean by option memory test. Do you mean selecting
memtest86+ option from the grub menu? Other possibilities I could think
of would be the BIOS's memory check, or possibly an option on the kernel
command line.
I'm not certain our issues are the same. I'm not running from the live
cd, though I initially installed from it; and I'm not using a widescreen
monitor, though I'm not certain why that would cause this issue.
