Yes, burn a new one but also start by ordering an official one through shpit.  It's quick to put the order in but takes ages for the official cd to arrive & also it doesn't hurt to have a few different copies of Ubuntu in case you get a chance to give one away to a friend or someone, often a good move )  I tend to find that the cheapest "write once" cds that you can only buy in packs of 10 or more are better for this than more expensive kinds of cds and of course dvds often tend to be almost useless.  Anyway here's a guide to making a great cd

Note that any Ubuntu cd can be booted as a LiveCd so that while installing you can still pop into here through firefox on the top taskbar.  It's a good idea to try a demo of Ubuntu on the particular set of hardware you plan to install Ubuntu on before installing it, just to see if it's going to be easy (usually is easy).  To do so simply put the Ubuntu Cd in the cd/dvd-drive and reboot the machine.  It should get you to a menu with "Try Ubuntu without changes to this machine", if it doesn't then this guide might help

Choosing the "Try Ubuntu ..." should get you to a working desktop which we call a "LiveCd session", if it works.  Firefox on the top taskbar and the installer icon at the top right of the desktop are probably the most useful parts of this right now but also gparted is quite handy sometimes :)
