[Question #78947]: cannot access cd-rw drive after install of ubuntu

I am a complete novice. I installed ubuntu to wipe the disc and intend to re-install XP, but cannot boot the disc. Within ubuntu I get "Unable to mount location  no media in the drive". The disc is spinning but not being read. I also cannot boot from it on start up. Everything worked fine until I installed this OS.
