I have a usb to parallel cable that uses the 7715 Moschip Semiconductor chipset. This cable is not recogonized by
the kernel. In looking at the kernel source for mos7720.c it appears that this chip is supported. HOWEVER the usb_device_id table in the module only has the 7720 chip listed. Can the 7714 chip support be enabled by adding
an entry to the usb_device_id table?

I am trying to have my ubuntu system function as a "printer" for a remote pc. 
system details:

Linux ron-amd64 2.6.28-14-generic #47-Ubuntu SMP Sat Jul 25 00:28:35 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux
Ubuntu 9.04 32-bit

lsusb:
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 006: ID 9710:7715 MosChip Semiconductor Printer cable
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 067b:2303 Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2303 Serial Port
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

The device in question is 9710:7715


dmesg lines generated by plugging the cable in:

[441187.110503] USB Serial support registered for Moschip 2 port adapter
[441187.110510] mos7720: 1.0.0.4F:Moschip USB Serial Driver
[441187.110545] usbcore: registered new interface driver moschip7720

But no /dev entries are generated by udev...
