[Question #78976]: no audio. using realtek alc 887 in asus m4a78-vm mb. other pc uses similar mb with alc 650 - no problems.

pc connected via hdmi to samsung la40a550. i'm new to ubuntu but have cleared all of the basic checks recommended by ubuntu web pages.
