The "distros"  are still Ubuntu so you only really have a single distro.
If you had something like SUSE or Mandriva or Fedora alongside then
those would be different distros. The only thing different between
Ubuntu and Kubuntu is the desktop environment, The underlying mechanics
are EXACTLY the same, hence why it is easy to install the DE you wish
and you can switch between KUbuntu and Xununtu easily.
