[Question #79116]: unable to upgrade alsa-driver on ubuntu 8.04
New question #79116 on alsa-driver in ubuntu:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+question/79116
I tried to upgrade alsa-driver in my lenovo S10-2 on Ubuntu 8.04 as no sound from speaker. I tried with the script mentioned in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1046137, as well as using step-by-step commands explained in many weblinks. However, I couldn't get alsa driver updated.
After upgrading, I checked it with the command:
$ wget -O alsa-info.sh http://alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh && bash ./alsa-info.sh,
and I got the following msg:
!!ALSA Version
!!------------
Driver version: 1.0.16
Library version: 1.0.20
Utilities version: 1.0.20
However, when I used the command $aplay --version, it returned with:
aplay: version 1.0.20 by Jaroslav Kysela <perex@xxxxxxxx>
Using command $cat /proc/asound/version, I got:
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.16.
Compiled on Jul 25 2009 for kernel 2.6.24-24-generic (SMP)
It seems that I couldn't upgrade to the newest alsa-driver which I hope it supports ALC272 sound card. Anyone knows how to solve this problem?
