Question #79123 on Ubuntu changed:

Tom proposed the following answer:
Hi again :)
The first question is do you already have an Ubuntu Cd? If not order
one through shipit and/or make your own one. Then boot up from the Cd
to a LiveCd session and see how well that works on your machine.
Usually it's fine so then install as a dual-boot so that you can keep going back into Vista until you've got used to our strange linuxy ways ;)

Please don't expect to fully understand everything in linux straight away. Sometimes people find there's just one thing they keep having to go back into windows for and then suddenly they figure how to get that in linux too ;))
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
