Yes, LiveCd it to add a new partition at the very front of your drive.
Just a tiny Primary Partition of 1.5Gb and set it's "file-system" to
"linux-swap". Please let us know what GPartEd shows in it's bottom half
where all the addresses and values are written.
So we get
sda2 1.5Gb Primary Partition for 'file-system' = linux-swap
unallocated
sda1 large Primary Partition with all your data on it so no changes to this one
