Bug description:
  Ubuntu 11.10 beta

  1. Start a session in Simplified Chinese.
  2. In Ubuntu Software Center, choose to install or remove something.

What happens: The prompt says "[Invalid UTF-8]".
What should happen: The prompt says whatever is the Chinese for "To install or remove software, you need to authenticate."

According to the reporter of bug 874755, the problem also occurs with
  Brazilian Portuguese (LANGUAGE=pt_BR:en).
