Update:

I have reinstalled alsa-base.conf as instructed. I ran the hdajackretask
program with the "show unconnected pins" option. Upon hitting apply, I
get the following message:

tee: /sys/class/sound/hwC0D0/reconfig: No such file or directory

I assume it is looking for a reconfig file in that directory but there
is no such file?

Let me know.
