[Bug 1317613] Re: scribus random freezes loading image frame
random freeze are something nasty things... rather difficult to debug
and the like...
The only thing I can ask you is to try scribus 1.4.4.
You can get a .deb package from my ppa (uploaded for the occasion, something like a backport from the just-uploaded package to debian) and check if the issue is still there.
https://launchpad.net/~mapreri/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/6379176/+files/scribus_1.4.4%2Bdfsg1-1~0ubuntu14.04.0_amd64.deb (I discourage you to add the ppa to your repository)

Title:
scribus random freezes loading image frame
Status in “scribus” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Sometimes while trying to populate an image frame, Scribus freezes and
I must force quit the application. It happens both when selecting the
image to load or changing directory. No crash dialog appears, the app
just stops doing anything. It doesn't happen always, but just
sometimes. If someone may help me I will be happy to help more
debugging and submitting logs and other.
