Can you refined what you mean? Do you mean that when you go into the
properties dialog window, and edit the attributes of the text, the fonts
etc. don't apply?

  scribus don't apply character styles

Bug description:
  i'm using ubuntu 14.04 64bits updated to 2014/09/29

  Scribus Version 1.4.2.dfsg+r18267-1ubuntu2 (in the window title
  figures 1.4.3.svn)

  when i select a character or paragraph style from the style manager
  whith the right click and select "apply" scribus dont apply the style.
  From the text editor works well, but i cant apply character styles.
