Title:
clicking a directory in file dialog causes Scribus to crash
Status in “scribus” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
[Ubuntu version]: 12.04
[scribus version]: 1.4.0.dfsg+r17300-1ubuntu1
[lib1tgui4 version]: Installed: 4:4.8.1-0ubuntu4.2; Candidate: 4:4.8.1-0ubuntu4.3
I'm pretty sure this bug is actually qt-related rather than Scribus,
but I'm not sure which component of qt is involved. I have have also
had similar problems with QGIS.
The bug is that when I try to save or open a file using the file
dialog, clicking on a folder will often cause the application to
crash. In Scribus, it first gives me a "Scribus crashes due to signal
#6" error dialog before crashing. A crash seems to only happen when I
click on certain directories; I haven't done enough investigation yet
to see whether it's always the same directories that cause a crash. A
single click on one of the bad directories is all it takes (double-
click not necessary). A screenshot of the offending dialog is
attached, or view it at http://tinypic.com/r/111jbwi/6
After crashing I launched Scribus again, and this time it seemed to
have lost some of its theming (I had to replace compiz and unity,
though I don't know whether the two issues are related). The file
dialog no longer caused a crash, but it looked terrible
(http://tinypic.com/r/16lbpxz/6).
For completeness, here is the dialog that caused a crash in QGIS:
http://tinypic.com/r/mmw51/6
I have not been able to find a bug which sounds similar, but it seems to be the same as what was reported in this stackexchange issue:
http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/35002/qgis-and-ubuntu-browse-dialogue-causing-crashing
I am upgrading to the candidate qt4 package to see if that fixes
anything.
