[Bug 1246908] Re: ~/.gimp-2.8 directory and everything inside is owned by root
I got the same error.
First time after installation I opened gimp as root ('sudo gimp'). So it's initial configuration is set for root. Now 'sudo gimp' works perfectly. I don't know how to solve this..

The ~/.gimp-2.8 directory and everything inside it is owned by user
root, group root. As a consequence the ordinary user does not have the
adequate access rights to the personal Gimp files.
Gimp shows the following messages during start:

Unable to open a test swap file.
To avoid data loss, please check the location and permissions of the swap directory defined in your Preferences (currently "/home/vbrozik/.gimp-2.8").
