Title:
  Audacity halts when Terratec phase22 is selected for recording &
  playback/ sound card not recognized in sound preferences

Status in audacity package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Soundcard Terratec Phase22 is recognized when lspci command is given
  but the device is not shown under "hardware" tab in audio preferences.
  Only the onboard audio is enabled. Audacity recognizes the device but
  is unable to operate it.
