Title:
The longer you rotate & scale in or out of Edit Mode, the more
unresponsive and slow Blender & the whole operating system become.
Status in blender package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: blender
(Blender 2.49b with Python 2.6)
Upgraded from Ubuntu 9.10 to Ubuntu 10.04 (via Update Manager). Problem wasn't present in 9.10.
Intel MacBook 3.1 with integrated Intel GMA965 graphics card, 1GB RAM.
Whenever I manipulate vertices or whole objects with Rotate and Scale,
Blender becomes slow/unresponsive and soon affects the whole OS. Once
this even caused the whole GNOME interface to disappear, forcing me to
press the Power button to bring up the Shutdown window and restart the
system. Quitting Blender takes a long time (after Scaling/Rotating)
and that also makes the whole OS unresponsive.
Simply moving individual vertices or whole objects doesn't cause
slowdowns, only Rotating & Scaling, it seems.
I'm sure this problem has something to do with my system being a
MacBook with an integrated Intel GMA965 graphics card.
Thank you.

Update: I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 again and found out that it also
has almost the same problem now (must have been the fault of a certain
update) - scaling & rotating gradually slows down Blender and the
operating system. However, it's less severe. It never gets as slow as
with Ubuntu 10.04 and doesn't cause the GNOME interface to just
disappear.
Thank you.
