[Bug 351080] Re: Glyphs drop out when bold attribute applied
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version, such as
16.04.
** Package changed: ttf-junicode (Ubuntu) => fonts-junicode (Ubuntu)
** Changed in: fonts-junicode (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Incomplete

Title:
Glyphs drop out when bold attribute applied
Status in fonts-junicode package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
In AbiWord, KWord, Scribus or OOo 3.0.1 start a new blank document and
paste in the following text:
Linguists need combining diacriticals in order to type something like
[bɪt͡ʃ].
Now apply Bold attribute to the line. The IPA characters in the last
word will drop out.
For reference, the IPA characters in the final word are ɪ (026A), ʃ
(0283) tie bar (0361). I chose these just for demonstration purposes;
many other glyphs also drop out when bold is applied.
I just discovered and confirmed this bug on Intrepid while using OOo,
and then tried the other applications listed above where I discovered
that it happens in them also.
Then I used the March 26 beta live CD of Jaunty, installed AbiWord,
KWord and Scribus (both 1.3.3.12 and 1.3.5). The problem remains.
I never had this problem in Hardy.
