ACK.  Especially with 0.92 a lot changed in the poppler importer.
I'm thus closing this bug on that ground.  Thanks for checking again and sorry nobody had a chance on dealing with your report earlier.

  Inkscape systematically crashes when importing pdf image via poppler

Status in inkscape package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Seen on Kubuntu 15.04.

  Applications should not crash.  Poppler import functionality is
  described as working on OSX and other Linux distros, so the issue may
  be specific to ubuntu. In case, either fix or please disable poppler
  import altogether.
