[Bug 628968] Re: Inkscape Crashes in Inkscape::Preferences::_loadDefaults
>From the backtrace in comment #5, this is crashing in sp_repr_do_read
while reading in the preferences file.
The backtrace appears to be crashing during the garbage collection setup
for Inkscape::XML::SimpleDocument, in the call to GC_malloc(256).
I think we'd need to know more specific steps to reproduce this. A copy
of a preferences file on a system experiencing this specific crash (i.e.
that shows the same gdb backtrace as in #5) would be useful.

After starting "inkscape", the only thing which happens is the
following output to the console:
Segmentation fault
I have encountered this bug only on 64-bit Ubuntu. My other computer
with Ubuntu 10.04 under similar configuration, but 32-bit
architecture, runs inkscape without any problems.
