This was fixed in v1.7 uploaded to Disco before release. But as the bug
was against the upstream project, and not the Ubuntu source package, the
bug did not automatically get closed by the upload. Closing manually,

  Some times if the system is busy, the ubuntustudio-controls script
  does not get a responce from the daemon in time and so starts another
  one.
