This is something that is beyond the scope of Jack and QJackCtl, and one
of the reasons Ubuntu Studio Installer and Ubuntu Studio Controls

Title:
  user is not added to audio group

Status in qjackctl package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  jackd2's optional /etc/security/limits.d/audio.conf is present, giving
  privileges to members of the audio group, but the user isn't added to
  the audio group, so when running the qjackctl application, jack does
  not get these privileges.
