Version: 1.6,0 beta 1 (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
OS: Linux

In the KFormula handbook:
When you type a backslash (\) you get a new empty list right away.
    ...
Inside the blue square do: \ , SPACE to get a small space.

Typing a backslash does put a new blue box in the formula.
In the box I typed \ , SPACE
The box decreased in size, but the , stayed where it was.

I tried several names: delta, oint, quad ...
All that apears in the formula are the words "delta" "oint" "quad" ...

I could only enter symbols by choosing them in the Symbols list and
clicking on the "Enter" button.

However... in the Dutch version even this didn't work.

The latex-xft-fonts are installed.
All fonts are installed system wide.

I checked in the Font Installer, administrator mode, the fonts are in
the list in the original version and in the Dutch version.

This bug appeared when I updated koffice to 1.6.2 on Kubuntu. The
previous version of koffice doesn't have this issue. I think it should
get more notice since it pretty much means kformula is unusable.
