20.10 Stylus input (wacom screen) instantly freezes OS

Bug description:
Previously on 20.04 stylus input with Wacom integrated display (not a
pad or separate device) worked great.

Currently on 20.10 any stylus input including near hover without
physically touching will instantly freeze/lockup the OS forcing hard
  reboot/power off/on to recover.

Kernel might (?) be confusing touch input with stylus input in the
same moment as described here (???):
  https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-hardware-18/touching-
  wacom-tablet-crashes-linux-4175571470/.

Device is HP Envy Note 8 using official HP Stylus, Ubuntu Mate 20.10.
