This is reproducible on both hirsute and impish. Ubuntu Wayland session.

1. Open MyPaint
2. Try to select a different brush or color

The application becomes unresponsive.

The menubar and the buttons below it do not seem to cause any problem.
Only the fancy widgets at the bottom of the window lead to a crash.
