[Bug 1963694] Re: [FFe] Update rapid-photo-downloader for Python 3.10 compatibility
** Summary changed:
- Update package for Python 3.10 compatibility
+ [FFe] Update rapid-photo-downloader for Python 3.10 compatibility
** Description changed:
+ [ Explanation ]
+
+ rapid-photo-downloader 0.9.30 has been released for compatiblity with
+ Python 3.10. Unfortunately, it also has new dependencies, including an
+ entirely new package (in progress, showinfilemanager
+ https://github.com/damonlynch/showinfilemanager). As such, these new
+ dependencies are to enable at least one new feature in rapid-photo-
+ downloader.
+
+ As it stands now, rapid-photo-downloader will fail to run in jammy due
+ to the python 3.10 update.
+
+
+ Original Bug Report:
+
To run Rapid Photo Downloader with Python 3.10 (now the default in
jammy), the rapid-photo-downloader package must be updated to version
0.9.30. If it is not, it will crash at startup.
I am the developer of Rapid Photo Downloader and I am happy work with
Ubuntu packagers to get this done.
The volunteer Debian packager has not responded to package update
requests for some months. I think it reasonable to assume he will not
likely be able to contribute before jammy is released.
