[Bug 1967691] Re: Ubuntu Studio will not install on VM with UEFI

Hi all,

I do NOT think that this is an invalid bug, due to my host machine. I
have now tested it on VirtualBox, downloaded from the Ubuntu repository,
on three different machines: a Dell desktop, a Dell laptop (both running
Ubuntu Studio 21.10) and an iMac (running Ubuntu 20.04). I have
observed EXACTLY the same response on all three.

The settings that I used were: VirtualBox, 4096 Mb memory; 40 Gb hard
disk; boot from optical disk; Chipset PIIX3; Pointing Device USB Tablet;
Enable I/O APIC;; Enable EFI (specia OSes only); Hardware Clock in UTC
time; 1 processor; Display Video Memory 128 Mb; Storage IDE Secondary
with Jammy Beta iso selected; Audio Controller INTEL HD Audio. All
other settings are default settings. After I click "Start", the GRUB
screen appears. When I choose "Ubuntu Studio", the screen goes black
with a static cursor in the upper left hand corner. The VM never moves
from this position. Has anyone successfully installed Ubuntu Studio
Jammy Beta on either a VM or a real machine in UEFI mode???

Title:
Ubuntu Studio will not install on VM with UEFI

Status in Ubuntu Studio:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I tried to install Ubuntu Studio 22.04 Beta on both VirtualBox and
VMware set for UEFI with GPT partitioning. I used the same settings
that I have previously used to install Ubuntu Studio on both virtual
machines and computers. I was also successful installing previous
versions of Ubuntu Studio 22.04 (alpha versions) with the settings.
When I try the install, I can click "Install Ubuntu Studio"; the
screen then changes to a blank screen.

My UEFI settings are: 512 Mb FAT32 boot, ~15 Gb root, ~25 Gb home.
