[Bug 2105924] Re: Kubuntu 25.04 beta: Installing with an encrypted root filesystem results in a non-booting system

I've been down this path before, even received a review from the Ubuntu
Security Team. Encrypted systems have to have a separate /boot
partition, even separate from /boot/efi. The way you're doing it is
completely unsupported. I've done the due diligence here, and I'd be
happy to answer any questions on discourse.ubuntu.com if you'd like to
discuss further.

Thanks anyway, I absolutely appreciate the report! Please, do *NOT* let
this discourage you from reporting things in the future. I've just been
down this road already. ;)

Title:
Kubuntu 25.04 beta: Installing with an encrypted root filesystem
  results in a non-booting system

Status in calamares package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
Installing a minimal system with the following setup:

  /: btrfs or ext4 encrypted
  /boot/efi: fat32 unencrypted

leads to a system that does not boot.

Apparently either grub is not correctly set up or the filesystem is
encrypted in a way that grub cannot handle.

Grub drops down to the interactive grub-shell.

Entering `normal` shows an error message for the fraction of a second:

error: no such cryptodisk found. perhaps a needed disk or cryptodisk
  module is not loaded.

  Occasionally it's showing

error: no such cryptodisk found. perhaps a needed disk or cryptodisk module is not loaded.
  error: no such device: 683da99e-b5f3-4136-9d60-5155cb48ff1e.

Note: 683da99e-b5f3-4136-9d60-5155cb48ff1e seems not to be related to any device in my setup.

Note: Adding an unencrypted /boot-filesystem does work. However the
installer will heavily suggest not doing that (and probably rightfully
  so).
