Message #00003
Hello World
Hi all
My name is Thibaut Branscheid and I'm very pleased to see that the Contact
Lens takes shape. Early this year I posted the 'Contact Lens' idea on
Brainstorm. Since then I've liked the idea of fast contact accessing using
the Dash, but was not able to create it myself.
I'm a Linux project newbie. This is the first time that I joined a team to
develop some FOSS, therefore it would be nice to get some help in how to
set things up and if someone could give me a brief overview (common
tools...) it would be even greater.
Okay, so how does developing normally start - discuss the project goals,
write some design documents and create some mock-ups or just start hacking
and see what we get? My original plan was (before this group existed) to
learn C++ and write the Contact Lens my self, so therefore I would favor
Vala over Python (Vala syntax looks kind of familiar to me).
Some of my interests / skills:
- Java - 2 years (I work for a closed source Project as Java back-end
developer)
- Android - a half year (for the same Project)
- C++ - started this summer (no experience)
- Strong interest in UX and design
- A lot of ideas, ideas, ideas..
I'm ready to go :)
Thibaut
