Hello all,
I'm ok with first starting in python and later considering a
reimplementation in vala, for e.g. solving speed issues if we should face
any. Doing the lens in either python or vala should indeed not look too
different, thanks to gobject introspection, but from my point of view
python if better for fast prototyping.
I think it would also be helpful for everyone new to Foss development,
including myself, to see how you can use various languages for the same
task and how you can use them to talk to common API's... should we decide
to reimplement the lens in vala, I would definitely try to teach myself
some vala. At that point I would probably also have a better understanding
of how the lens works which means I would "only" have to learn vala to help
reimplementing it. I hope you get my point there.
So if everyone else agrees to Frederiks idea, starting with python and
maybe switching to vala later on, we should do it!
