Yes, I see. So the colored bar is the main indicator for affinity. It
would be complemented by a filter that allows to display only
high-affinity contacts.
I like the idea, that is not the problem. But I still see some kind of
redundancy of this implementation with a distinct “recent/regular”
category. Both serve the same goal: Find your most relevant contacts
fast and easy. The open question is, which method works better?
I think having contacts ordered by affinity and thus display the most
affine contacts first in this category, makes it even easier to find
them, compared to finding them by color in a list of alphabetically
sorted contacts.

If you have no online contacts, that category will not even show, so I
think this is not a problem. That said, I agree having this category
availabe for those who use it.

Okay, I understand your reasoning, so I would also be in favor of
keeping the “All contacts” category.

We don’t have the problem as long as we don’t implement the files
category, so I think we can just show the “All Contacts” category last
and still have it visible. We can re-arrange them when space becomes an
issue.
