It's hard to tell at a glance what there is OFF, and what is ON
(despite the big capital letter text- hey, don't make me read! ;) )

I reckon there's one clear mistake in this styling, and a significant
lack of visual cues that might be handy for telling the two states
apart. The overall effect of this is to confuse people as to whether
the text means the switch IS ON, or if it needs clicking to MAKE it
  ON.

  The mistake:
In that second picture, the colour red is used to denote a switch that is ON. That's a terrible error- red is the colour of “No; off; not working; bad times.”

  Some suggestions for other cues:
The off switches look just as bright, spritely and alive as the ON switches. Some effort ought to be made to make them look dormant and off-ly.
Idea 1. Dim the text a bit on switches that are OFF. (Confusion with disablement possible?)
Idea 2. Add a colourful background to switches that are ON. (Confusion with focussed element?)

To be honest, I like both ideas, but think some care would be needed
to make sure that these styles avoided looking too much like the
disabled or focussed states of other elements in the theme.
