Message #04839
[Bug 1294256] Re: [indicators] Text for SIM status in the panel takes too much space and does not scale for multi-SIM
Specification updated.
<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Networking?action=diff&rev2=219&rev1=218> If
the phone contains zero SIMs, "No SIM" should be displayed only once;
and if none of them are connected to a network, "No service" only once.
It will still be possible for "SIM locked" or "SIM error" to show up
twice, but that will be incredibly rare, and not worth making those
states harder to understand for the case where they happen with only one
SIM.
** Changed in: ubuntu-ux
Status: New => Fix Committed
** Description changed:
When there is no signal, the indicator shows the text 'No signal' which
- takes up far too much space. It should use an icon, such an the network-
- offline icon from the system. This may be blocked by bug #1294251 as the
- network-offline icon is currently missing.
+ takes up far too much space for dual SIM.
+
+ <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Networking#Title>: "On the phone ... 2. SIM
+ status indication: * the text “No SIM” if the phone has zero detected
+ SIMs; otherwise * nothing at all, if the phone is in Flight Mode;
+ otherwise * the text “No service” if none of the phone’s SIMs are
+ associated with a cellular network; otherwise * for each SIM, its
+ individual SIM status, in its color if there is more than one SIM."
