The decision was made at UDS and I'm sorry that you don't agree with it
now but we have already written plenty of code and it's difficult to
change courses at this point.
fwiw, I agree with some of what you said about things not looking like
menus, and in fact early on I was the person on the DX team expressing
that I felt we may be breaking the concept of menus (although everyone
here seems to be focused on "what menus look like in other UIs" as a
definition for "what menus are", and I was concerned with things like
breaking keyboard navigation).
Anyway, I have nothing else to say on this thread. I've clearly already
wasted too much time on it.
