I really like the idea of a file/activity being part of a project.
This could be implemented easily using the Zeitgeist API. This could
even be automatized, using the capabilities of the Zeitgeist engine.
You can give it a try right now, with the latest build of the Gnome
Activity Journal. You can have the most used files/activities with the
one you choose (as it logs everything you do in gedit, tomboy, totem,
rhythmbox, firefox, eog, etc. + opened files). It works, and I think
there is huge potentialities in this idea.
The GAJ is great, but it's not really user friendly to open it, choose
the file, right click, and so on.
What about an application indicator displaying the most used
files/activities with the one you are currently doing (aka the last
logged zeitgeist event) ?
One click, and you are provided what you probably need, or at least what
you used to need.
